Tennis Cup Coverage: Game Week 2
Game Week 2 has been well under way in the Tennis Cup for over a week now. Last round saw the elimination of half of the original 32 contestants, leaving the Sweet Sixteen to battle it out between eachother to move on to the Elite Eight in the following week. This article will give you the scoop on what happened in Game Week 1, as well as the events that led to Game Week 2. Following, YTP News was able to interview one of the contestants that moved on and another that was left behind. Be sure to watch this Game Week’s matches and to vote on them by using the YouTube Poop Forums to PM user “John Madden.”
Before moving on, an announcement: Gallers, founder, contestant, and host of the Tennis Cup, has decided to resign from his post as host of the Tennis Cup. He has offered the position to Christoph, contestant of the Tennis Cup and current writer of this article. Christoph gladly accepted so long as the people had no problem with this. “This will have no significant impact on the Tennis Cup,” said Christoph. Now back to coverage of the first gameweek.
The first gameweek of the Tennis Cup means elimination for half of the players. It is the single largest round of elimination in the tourney, and each of the players knew this entering the games. After the votes were tallied up, the result were delivered, but it was not a simple matter of sixteen of the players being outright eliminated. There were two matches tied for votes and three matches that were incomplete.
Uncle69er, Rakninja, and Gamebop were given free passes to the second bracket as a result of forfeited matches, as SeductiveBaz, Gallers, and Strong414bad withdrew. The incomplete match between MilkR0und and Intenseowl has yet to be settled.
Among the settled matches, several were tight matches. TheDarkRises vs. TheRoboticRobot was an extremely close match, with a large number of votes on either side, though in the end, TheRoboticRobot clinched victory. Other players who won tight victories were Christoph, NS2, and Ophios. In contrast, Crash2991 won a landslide victory over FourTwoNineStudios.
The two tied matches ended in victory for RabbitSnore and Ishkibibl, who played SonicNerd23 and Terrorist respectively. Terrorist and Ishkibibl’s match required three votes to settle it beyond the initial voting.
The first gameweek left the playing field of the Cup in interesting shape, paving the way for such pairings as Ophios vs. Rakninja, RabbitSnore vs. Nuthead, and Crash2991 vs. Uncle69er, to name a few. The results of the second gameweek will thin the flock by another eight players, as the Cup promises to continue to provide interesting matches.
One of the contestants that made it through to the second gameweek, NS2, was selected by random to do an interview with us. He gladly accepted.
YTP News: Hello, NS2. Thanks for taking some time to do this interview. What is something identifiable about you and your style in Tennis? Any notable sources you often use?
NS2: When I play tennis, it usually gives viewers a chance to see me exert a radically different style than my normal poops. Tennis is the only way I can truly rape clips, and I can create some very irresistible WMM stutters. If the opponent uses ear rape, I take that and use it in the next round to my advantage, and I have been able to convince viewers with some of my previous matches. Sources usually vary each match, but chances are I’ve already used it in a normal poop by the time I use it in tennis. For my rounds in the Tennis Cup, Metal Gear Solid games have been serving as the backbones of the videos.
YTP News: What has your experience in the Tennis Cup been like so far since you’ve survived one round and are now competing in the next?
NS2: So far, it has been an amazing experience competing in the Tennis Cup. I am very glad that I joined. I’ve had the chance so far to play two amazing poopers, GameCubeHero and MAZZ0Murder, both who I am a fan of, and both who succeeded to provide intense and challenging matches. It shocked me at first that I could defeat a veteran like GCH, as I never considered myself a convincing YTPer, but I realize the positive influence the community has had on me since I joined. I’ve learned to master the crafts of WMM, and I am proud of what I am creating, especially in these tennis matches.
YTP News: With only a total of 16 players remaining, there are a lot of strong competitors in the Tennis Cup. Who do you look forward to playing the most? Why?
NS2: Two of the contenders left in the cup, Crash2991 and Temeku, are worthy opponents I have previously played, and a rematch would always excite me. Since I played Temeku, both of us have strongly improved as YTP makers, and also in popularity. Both of us were unknowns at the time we played our mach, and now, with our new skills, the tension is higher and more people are there to provide support for a side. I also look forward to playing RabbitSnore, as he is an amazing pooper, and I’d like to put my skills up against his. I’d probably look forward to playing anyone left in the cup, as they are all amazing contenders.
YTP News: Thank you very much for your time, and good luck in the Tennis Cup.
While the path of those who are still in the Tennis Cup seems bright, the path of those who have lost is a different story. I was able to get fellow News writer and eliminated Tennis Cup contestant Sonicnerd23 for a brief interview aswell.
YTP News: Hello, sonicnerd23. Thanks for taking the time to do this interview.
sonicnerd23: Hey, hey, no prob.
YTP News: Before touching on other matters, let’s talk about the previous GameWeek. You lost to RabbitSnore in what was a very close match. What do you have to say about your match and your elimination?
sonicnerd23: It was a very epic match. Very epic indeed. I remember being a bit upset over losing, but then, I moved on. Y’know, you can’t hold onto the past forever. You just have to do your best next time something like this comes around.
YTP News: Moving on, what is something identifiable about you and your style in Tennis? Any notable sources you often use?
sonicnerd23: I often use sources that some poopers here might not even use, such as Godzilla movie trailers and Ratt’s Round and Round. I actually use a lot more real life clips than animation. *laughs* I try to add in as much ear rape as I can to the previous round if there isn’t a lot already.
YTP News: While you will likely have more matches of Tennis in the future, there are many great players in the Tennis Cup who could give you a great match. Of the remaining contestants, who would you want to play in the Tennis Cup had you not been eliminated?
sonicnerd23: I would have liked to clash blades with GameCubeHero. After watching some of his poops, he seems like a very interesting pooper that I would like to test my skills against.
YTP News: Since you’re no longer in the Tennis Cup, who are you rooting for? Who do you think will win it all?
sonicnerd23: I’m rooting for NS2, not because he’s a mod, but because he’s a WMM god. It’s hard to say because several of the poopers here have great potential, but I think [the winner] will be GameCubeHero.
YTP News: Thank you very much for your time. Best of wishes to you and your future endeavors.
sonicnerd23: Thanks. I hope the same.
This gameweek will definitely test the Sweet Sixteen of the Tennis Cup, but it is up to you, the audience, to decide their fate. Like the previous gameweek, voting is done on the YouTube Poop forum. Simply create a PM addressed to user “John Madden,” and include your votes for all the matches you’re looking to vote on. You may on every match only once per gameweek. Thank you for participating.
