Perfect Poop goes off to strong start
With rouhgly 10 new entries per day the perfect poop contest/collab has gone off to a very strong start with plenty surprises and enteries from poop making veterans and new comers alike.
Like the tribute video campaign last September, part the appeal of this event has been to unashamedly try to get people to watch the videos by posting videos on other sites and other online guerilla marketing techniques. Those savy to this, including those that use social network sites such as myspace and facebook have enjoyed a healthy head start whilst those that have build up a dedicated audience on youtube had found they can no longer be complacent.
The fifth person to enter, McMaNGOS has remained in top place since the start and with strong lead thanks to posting on a World on Warcraft forum. Pimpsahoy too, one of our most prolific members has made use of his knowledge and experience or ruthless self promotion to enjoy a place in the top 10 despite his rather weak entry.
Earlier in the week reception to the event was mixed with confussion caused whilst people grappled with the idea of perfect but they were quickly overtaken by those who just want a head and entered, enjoying a head start. Some critics remain, arguing that such a blatant race for viewers is against the ethos of Youtube Poop, the counter argument being that the result should be base don favourites rather than views. The ultimate conclusion being that there is a big difference between getting your work seen and people actually liking it!
The most controversial entry thus far has been from a total new comer called Vim1122. His video, with could be described as an AIDS/trap video/shocker hybrid is slowly gathering momentum and has entered the top 10. By far the least engaging of the enteries it has proven that in the indifferent world of youtube quality rarely translates to viewership. Despite this, the video has a small amount of underground support, YTPGod commenting that “This isn’t poop, This is just a internet prank.”
I remains to be seen if any anonymous or fake entries will be entered, or indeed and videos which simply are youtube poops but if and that happens, along with further analysis we’ll be sure to report it.
Each the top 10 chart will be updated, small symbols before a person’s name indicate how they have moved since the previous update. ˆ =up, ˘ =down and ¿=new entry.

You know, I don’t really see how there can be the such thing as a perfect poop. That’s like having a perfect song or a perfect painting… There can really be no objectively perfect poop, since there is no defined criteria on what MAKES a poop perfect. Like all arts, films can only be rated subjectively, where some will consider some to be better than others, and where one person may rate a film to be their favorite, another may rate it to be the one they hate the most.
You can’t define the “perfect” one by which has the most views. World of Warcraft is the most popular adventure game in the world, but is it as good as say, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? That’s debatable, and anyone with an unbiased view would probably say Ocarina of Time is the better game.
And really, I think that when we start ranking these, we’re doing more harm than good to YouTube Poop, since others will simply imitate the most popular ones, rather than viewing the good with the bad and drawing their favorites from each, which makes the genre constantly changing, while displaying one as being “the very best” will lead to a far more slowly evolving art form, if not outright stagnation.
Consider a site like Newgrounds… You have a number of creative, original flash toons ranked as the greatest of all, based on score. The good flashes account for perhaps 10% of all the content of that site, while the rest are the poorly-concieved “tributes”(that is, complete rip-offs) of those few good ones. If we want to prevent this from happening to YTP, we must not rank one as greater than another in any official way.

You offer a robust but flawed argument Civandalic.
The idea that some one can create something perfect is of course absurd which exactly why it’s the perfect name for this contest. The concept can only exist as as opinion so the best way to measure that is good hard numbers.
So many Poopers (or artists in general) get real hang ups about perfection it’s good to point the finger at it as an idea and laugh. The fact that many poopers care about views (and feel guilty for doing so - like shamefully enjoying a Big Mac) means that for once they can get all their validation issues and whore their work out using whatever creative means that that can.
Your suggestion that the popular videos will be copied is well founded however but surely that’s going to happen regardless of this contest. Given that all of these videos are correctly tagged it should mean that we can break the current youtube search results which is still dominated by cdi remixes. I’d rather people copy the videos that are in this chart (any of them) than last years old poop favourites, wouldn’t you?
Most people who’ve entered have noticed and increase in subscribers - and that means the collaborative element of this event is working out. Viewers are being made aware of other poopers and of the breadth and depth of originality and creative that enriches Poop culture.
So stop your moaning and get your entry in soon - that way there’s far greater chance that it’ll get mistaken for perfection.

In my general opinion, getting off topic of the whole spreading to Facebook, Myspace, and the other social website to increase view count thing, the concept of Perfect poop is to do the best you can with what you got, with the material, software, and whatnot, because to be perfectly honest, my entry took up more time and effort than any other of my creations that once were.
When I signed up, I never really had any interest in winning in the first place. Instead, I saw a chance for me to make something much better than I had done in the past(which was before earning the Featured title), so I had to take it.
And as far as ideas and copying other poops are concerned, I tried to stay away from that, but rather, brainstorm an idea, let my ideas come to life(with what technological capabilities are available at my disposal), and just spend some time with it.
The end result? Sure, the view count isn’t very high, but I was shocked to see the good reviews, comments, favs., and subscriptions coming in so far. At that point, I felt like I actually created a worthy Youtube Poop for the first time and should make more poops just like it, with more time, effort, and planning for original and creative ideas.
Prize? I don’t need no stinkin’ prize! Just the thought of knowing that I entertained those who watched my video. And that’s just what I got.
