Interview: DirtyPotterOfficial

September 22, 2008 By: RabbitSnore Category: Editorial, Interviews

Breaking from its usual policy of rejecting any and all freelance interviews from publication on the front page, YCP news has permitted a rare exception, in much the same spirit as the Marc Graue interview conducted months ago by Pspimp. This has been published out of regard for its quality.

DirtyPotterOfficial holds a unique place in the YouTube Poop community. He has created but two videos (only one of which is uploaded to his own YouTube account), yet has still attracted an enormous following and, as of May this year, has even seen his work featured on XM’s Opie & Anthony Show. Poop editor and enthusiast Waldfield conducted the below e-mail interview with DirtyPotterOfficial during the week of August 4th, 2008. In it, we learn about his rise to fame, his editing strategies and philosophies, and his plans for the future.

Pooper’s Block

September 16, 2008 By: Full Metal Kiwi Category: Site News

Furnessly here, yes the boring news member around these parts who spends more time at a sprite website than here and many members have fallen asleep already by my words but there was something I wanted to address and that is the “pooper’s block;” a disease that affects many poopers, including myself as a matter of fact.

A young business man diagnosed with pooper's block.Well, what is a pooper’s block? It is some device that keeps poopers locked up in a cage or on a road forcing people to go elsewhere? No, a pooper’s block basically means that you find it hard to make a poop even though you want to or have to in case of a tennis match which is also called fatigue, burned out or just plain fed up of making these videos.

However it doesn’t affect every pooper as some can make a 20 second loop of a man hitting himself on a frying pan with ear rape for example and put it up. It originally came from writer’s block which is a common cause to writers but it can apply to anything artistic like animator’s block. There are ways to identify a pooper’s block which can be hard to tell otherwise.

1. Tiredness or the Brain Drain

When you are in front of a computer doing what you have to do, you go on to Vegas/WMM/Premiere to do your poop but you feel tired and can’t think of what to put or the effects to shove in, so only a little bit can be made. Even if you publish it onto Youtube, it feels like you lost your touch and not happy by the results so it gets left abandoned. It can also apply if you are under pressure, such as a 12 hour tennis match and a lack of motivation can arise from the poop that you are trying to make.Pooper's block is an obstacle only you can overcome.

2. Lack of inspiration and ideas

Common to many poopers and the reason why some such as Misselaineous10 has not returned to pooping. While some, like mentioned before, can do anything to a poop, some people need something to trigger to make a video whether it is something or someone around you, a new exploitable source (like with the Nostalgia Critic people have been doing recently), or a technique that is rarely used. However when you have the pooper’s block it can be hard to find inspiration that is needed to make the poop.

3. Out of action

Pooper's block is known to cause extreme facepalms.A rarer one but it does happen, especially for the older generation who have to work, are focused on another website,  just having problems with real life, or your computer has been broke for a month or two. When you come back to your video editor, you wonder if it is possible to recreate the so-called “glory days,” where your videos were liked by many people.

4. It happens

For some people it just happens with no reason at all that you are stuck and you don’t know how to get out.

There are some cures (which sadly do not apply to everyone), such as new sources, new editing techniques, drinking a bottle of Lucozade or anyExtreme energy for extreme pooping (in more ways than one!). other energetic/isotonic drink to get the energy needed (not Gatorade, it needs something powerful and yes it does work), make a few practice poops and see if they match your satisfaction, watching other poopers or even tennis matches (which are a double edge sword as in that they can cause pooper’s block yet also can cure it as you are remixing the previous poop and that might cause movitation).

ZZzzz… Fine, here are some memes to wake you up. CORY IN THE HOUSE, Cool story bro, a witty statement from MilesTailsPrower/TangerineImpz, MORNIN’, I’m JimPadalin and I’m awesome, Moneyyy, Dog Flipping Pancake, Nostalgia Critic picture, name fad.

YouChew PoopCast - Episode One

September 12, 2008 By: RabbitSnore Category: PoopCast

Intelligent. Witty. Motivated. Unprepared. Befuddled.

This marks the release of the first episode of the YouChew PoopCast, the new and highly experimental talk show churned out by the YCP News Staff. This pilot show features the voices of RabbitSnore, Thereisnospoon303, and Full Metal Kiwi, as well as the musical and technical talent of Crash2991. Our skilled and hardly prepared cast discusses the hopes and dreams for the show in the future then goes on an impromptu tirade about the beginnings of their poop careers as well as how poop flared in popularity, taking on tough issues such as CDi and dead material, speaking with the finesse of a jar of dead herring. Weighing in at a massive half an hour long, the pilot episode is sure to make you bored to tears.

If you wish to write into the PoopCast staff with a suggested topic, question, or concern, PM the Spiteful Crow account on the forum.

The next prospective episode plans to discuss the Cory in the House mailing chain as well as the impact of the forum on the genre of poop.

Thanks to the first discussion panel and Crash2991.
Thanks to Pullahoko of the Art Staff for the illustration.
