Forum Closed due to Unruly Members
Tonight the youchewpoop forum was closed indefinitely as another spate of spamming and forum abuse began in protest by members after moderator Conrad Slater banned a member for repeated bullying a fellow member.
Since the new year began, the forum has become increasingly unruly with the creation of prank threads - created as parodies or popular threads in a similar to poop fad videos plus the creation of a number of character accounts and other false identities created to cause mayhem. Whilst offenders claimed this was all merely high spirits some of the junior members were quick to disagree.
This fresh assault was centred around the perfect poop contest/collab in which a member (ShadowWario) repeatedly expressed his resentment toward popular pooper WalrusGuy and how by allow him to enter the contest the contest was unfair toward those who had failed/refused to promote themselves in the same way as he had done.
After several days of having had the contest outlined to him exactly how contest works and warned that his concerns was clearly a thinly disguised personal attack he stepped up his abuse gained enough support to begin organising a boycott of the contest - despite enjoying top 10 success himself!
It was at this point that he was banned from the forum and disqualified form the competition. So outraged by the draconian treatment a number of members began posting personal abuse against the site admin and early sign indicted an other onslaught of anarchy reminiscent of when pimpsahoy was made moderator for three hours.
Critics have commented that the forum has not been the same since the dismissal of mrdrunkenfox who was able to keep control of the forum by virtue of his reputation as being strict however this is at odds with the fact that the spamming and abuse began prior to his dismissal - and was a result of forum trouble maker including pimpsahoy, cloggerdone and more recently tacowiz.
The forum will remain closed indefinably or until an agreement can be made with members about what is and what is not acceptable behaviour - Slater’s approach towards universality (albeit heavily regulated) being at odds with the censuses of mob rule and Darwinistic elitism.

A message to those protesting Conrad’s decision: Get a grip! There’s a difference between stating an opinion and spamming the heck out of it. Don’t go thinking that boycotting the Perfect Poop contest and spamming his pages will solve anything. You’re just being like ShadowWario.

I may not be one to talk due to my recent status change, but I stand 100% behind you, Conrad. It is extremely displeasing to me, a pooper who only gets 300 views, to have this guy IN THE TOP 10 ranting about another guy. To me, it contrasts our real world politics where one man making 1 million dollars puts trash onto a richer man’s image, trying to make him look worse and trying to stop him from making money. If you bring the forum back, I promise I will be good.

I think the best rule we can do for now is have a rule against harshly attacking anyone for any reason outside of certain forum sections (such as the off-topic board). However, the punishments for these should start off being very light- a warning, two-day slaving or one-day ban, for example- and then end up getting higher depending on the number of repeat offenses.
Does this sound reasonable for everyone?

Conrad tried to help us with this shit? How does this count? He’s a fucking hypocrite and I have no idea why you’re going to bat for him on this, Tang. He’s been orchestrating the recent edrama with his shit and then we get blamed for being upset with him.
It was clear there would be flaws with this “contest.” YOU fucking think about it. It brought out everything that divides this community: what makes poop, what’s the best form, etc. Poop went from being just a mishmash of edited videos into some fucking marketing campaign. THAT’S what’s wrong. We now value the popularity over the process itself. That’s where this all began.
War on AIDS. Fascism. All this bullshit just added fuel to the fire. Admittedly, yes, several members of this community are responsible for the current issues at hand. Yet it is the sign of a good leader to address these issues and keep good counsel. Conrad has increasingly shown that the extent of his leadership abilities are trying to inflame forum members with childish one-upmanship games that continue to tear at the seams of this community, inconsistent decisions, and poor logic to make his cases. He battles with the community now seemingly as if he anticipates fucking with everyone and then blaming them for any problems that arise.
If we want to rebuild this site, some serious changes need to occur. No more status quo. No more games of “got ya!” or seemingly arbitrarily made judgments. We don’t need Conrad to play Big Brother. It’s, as you partially put it, about respect. If Conrad wants the respect of the community, he must stop slapping members in the face so blatantly. He sets bar, in a sense, but it is now set so low that no member bothers with it.
Stop making Conrad the damn victim. He’s a grown man. If he can’t learn from all of this, then that’s his fucking fault.

I’m defending him because I’ve been in his position before, and I see how much shit gets directed to him for what he does.
I’m not going to claim he’s perfect. Far from it.

Again, a good leader can assess his weaknesses and mistakes and anticipate who he or needs and what he needs to make sure they don’t fuck everything up. Conrad had that for some time up until recently and, as a result, began to completely botch his handling of the community. This is the result.
Once it began to become what HE thought would make poop “better,” he lost the vision of the community. When members saw this happening over the course of recent events, they considered Conrad more of an antagonist.

I think repeated trolling, flaming and spamming are all tempo-ban worthy. a single incident of any of the above isn’t ban worthy unless it’s something really bad.
I also think that posts from restricted members (abusers) should be moderated making the abuser feel like a little kid. they committed the crime, they pay for it.
bullying is worthy of a permenant ban, it’s effects can go beyond the online world. I should know I experienced it first hand.
Supporting abusive behaviour should result in a PM (whisper) warning, then abuser status and finally a tempo-ban. this should help keep the angry mobs under control.
Newcomers should also be treated with respect (I got lucky with this). As the kind of behaviour I have seen is utterly disgraceful.
everybody should also be forced to sign an agreement when/if the forum reopens to ensure that there are no ‘I didn’t know what the rules where’ remarks.
I am willing to help in any way I can to save this site from collapse as it is the lifeblood of youtube poop which is something I find relentlessly entertaining and original.

Look, whatever we decide, let’s decide it as soon as possible and try to get some rules we can all agree on. The discussions about how good of a job Conrad is doing are important, but they can happen another day. Right now we need to work on getting an agreeable set of rules out as soon as possible. The forum needs to be opened as soon as possible, because things like the Perfect Poop contest and the Tennis League are going to suffer from it staying closed.

Who said I hated you, Tang, or that any other member did? I would even say that most of us don’t hate Conrad. We’re really, really tired of his shit, but I don’t think that translates to hatred.
How do we make the forum as it once was? Good question. First of all we need Conrad to come down from his mountain and discuss this without resorting shutting people out because their opinions do not coincide with his. Secondly, we need at the very least responsible and seasoned members of this community to talk to him.
Quite frankly, though, things will never truly be the way they were. We didn’t have “AIDS,” “fascism,” and “Flash Poops” six months ago. We apparently do now. It’s time for both Conrad AND the community to address these things if we hope to come to some sort of reconciliation.

I thought this was just a new video thing website. But you guys are taking this out of control. This is too serious and e-drama-like for this kind of website. Promoting poop is important, but we do not need a bunch of paranoia and crap.
If we do want the site to work, we need to respect other’s opinions. Some think flash poops are poops, others don’t, but it doesn’t matter as long as they’re wholesomely enjoyable. Moderators need at act as role models (Since everyone loved how MrDrunkenFox did it, you might consider rejoining him to the force). This is just a little petty argument that now apparently everyone must suffer for. Reopen the forum, set guidelines on how to respect other members, but still allowing the mellow and joking way everyone addresses each other. Strong414bad has a good suggestion, just gradually increasing the penalties.
Really, we just need to go back when the forum just started, before we all apparently shoved segregation and whining up our asses, but with the maturity we learned from it. We want the word of poop to be spread, so educate the ones who want it, and let’s go back to before all this headache-inducing e-drama.

I think if you have a problem with someone or think something’s going wrong, you should Private Whisper them before announcing it to the entire community. First of all, why would Conrad freak-out over a freaking OPINION someone had!?
I understand he closed it because everyone was putting him in a corner, but it was because he banned someone for a reason he shouldn’t have been banned at all.
The contest was unfair, everyone said that, and out of everyone, Conrad chooses ShadowWario to threaten and ban.
ShadowWario wasn’t flaming WalrusGuy, he was stating the same opinion everyone else had.
And this is also very similiar to how he demodded Fox because of his opion on flash poops.

I would like to speak with him, and I’ll be doing what I can to contact him.
I believe that having a community where the members get to have a greater say in what happands is a good idea. Conrad can simply make topics asking for people’s ideas with what he’s thinking of doing, and then make a decision based on what the members want.
But what needs to happan on the community’s part, is to ease of the spamming. It’s because of the spaming and other garbage, that I’M NOT SAYING I DON’T DO MYSELF, that ends up killing the board and then being direct at Conrad yet again. We kill it, and blame it on him for not upholding some sort of law. Then he upholds the law, and people call him a nazi and rebel.
See what’s going on?
We, as a community, including Conrad, need to find a way where we can enjoy ourselves but also control ourselves.
We also need to decide on whether we want to handle e-drama or not. People want excitement, as long as it’s something they start, but they arn’t going to stand for someone else’s nonsense.

No, I don’t think mandatory donations would work. Personally, I’m too young to have any money or any way of sending what I have to Conrad and thus wouldn’t be able to use the forums. And the forums have a lot of people like me, people who would just get more angry at YouChew if we had to donate to access the site.

Mandatory donation isn’t going to work well. This will sort of limit the number of members, because newer members will be discouraged to pay for a forum. The community isn’t big to begin with, and this is going to limit it a lot. I’d be willing to donate to help Conrad pay for hosting and the like, but not to use the forums.

Look, It is not conrads fault and it is not the comunities fault eather. we all need to let opinions be opinions and stop overreacting just because someone likes what is spegeti or says cdi fails. We all need input to stay together on a forum as is. Many users may have been engulfed in all the confussion going on and rebeled without thinking and conrad found out he can’t make all decessions alone. Will everyone just SHUT UP!?!? I think that if someone starts bullying another person repeatedly, he should be at least suspended, and then let off with a warning, then banned if continued. But what I’m angry over is the fact that even after Flash Poops and such have been made a subgenre, you continue to bully people like WalrusGuy, Titleinlarge, etc. It’s the reason why I postted that comment on Titleinlarge’s page about you being jerks.
And another thing, I’m also ticked about you shitting all over newbies. How the hell are we supposed to get better unless you encourage us to try new things? This is really starting to frustrate me, and nobody looks at Beginner Poops, which also discourages us.
Overall, here’s my standing: Start being nicer to Flash Poopers and start encouraging newbies, and the forum will be a lot happier. Otherwise, Youtube Poop may very well come to an end.

Indefinitely? How long does that mean? No matter how much shit happened on the forum, I still loved it. It was really my only place to promote my videos, since I only have 6 subscribers and I’m not featured.
I’m not taking any sides here, but I don’t know why you guys were hating on Conrad so much recently, I guess I missed some of this drama. But he runs this site and I’m assuming pays for it too when he doesn’t have to. So you guys gave him shit and this is what happened. I think a lot of people have had sticks up their asses recently, so there’s no one person to blame for this. I just hope everyone can sort out their differences to some extent and get the forums up and running again.
I’m gonna be really sad and pissed if the forum is shut down for good, because I was starting to get to know everybody and feel pretty welcome.

Perhaps I’m too lenient on this issue as usual… but I try to look at all sides of issues like this.
Pretty much everyone made mistakes today. ShadowWario for hating Walrusguy and complaining against him, for example. Ultimately, Walrusguy has worked hard at making the humorous genre of poop, which appeals more to the majority of people, as opposed to ear rape type videos. Although I agree to an extent that WalrusGuy entering is a bit unfair since the contest is based on views, that just means that his history of pooping is a more praised one, and ShadowWario was just acting on his envy on Walrusguy’s fame. Although it was said that he was warned about it multiple times, he just ran himself into trouble.
Conrad might have been overreacting a bit as well, although his actions could be compromised as well. I can see where he comes from, attempting to control a large-scale contest such as the perfect poop contest, although it may have been a bit much to disqualify someone for their opinion. Banning could have been overreacting, had it not been for the fact that slaving him would result in multiple flaming posts, which would result in a banning anyway. Nontheless, he is doing a lot for us, despite what people think. Starting this site and keeping it up is a prime example of his devotion to the poop community, as well as creating multiple poop campaigns. However, I think that he still gets too much punishment despite his actions. It really does not help that so many of the people cannot take anything seriously and can be total idiots, as some of these comments prove.
The people are the main influence on any forum, and it is very difficult for any one person to control something like this. The fact that there are so many idiots does not help the person who runs a forum, similar to why people treat the president too harshly. But this isn’t about politics, this is about poop.
In order for the forums to get better, the people need to get better first. A tower cannot stand if the supports do not work right. I cannot suggest anything off of the top of my head, but I respect those who are keeping their sanity through this.

Thats another bad thing about the forums being down, people cant post their new creations, which prevents them from getting a larger fanbase, which makes them feel more appreciated for their hard work that they may or may not put into their poops.

Personally, if I had a website like this, and i did something, and then everyone turned on me, than I’d probably do the same thing.
Conrad does have the right to shut down the forums, he’s the one that puts time, effort and money, into keeping this community running, and you should at least appreciate that. And everyone fucks up. Nobody’s perfect.
And sure, everyone is on uneven ground when it comes to Walrusguy, but you can’t put on all the blame on Walrusguy. However, even though we might have different opinions on what the definiton of Youtube Poop is, but you shouldn’t just flame someone completely, like ShadowWario did. I say, ShadowWario deserved to be banned.
But then again, why is everybody rebelling against Conrad for a simple ban?
If we are to keep order in this community, than we need some changes.
- A few extra moderators, people who are trustworthy, would help.
- Also, we shouldn’t just point the finger at one person for this mess. Whether it be Conrad, ShadowWario, or Walrusguy, or whomever.
- And Conrad, you shouldn’t just make big changes without first discussing with others. It’s just going to make things worse. Open a thread or something on discussing big changes.
- Un-ban ShadowWario, but if he’ll pull the same shit he was, ban him again.
Sure, closing the forum was a bit overreacting, but then again, ShadowWario, anyone who bitched about him being banned, and anyone who is still complaining, is overreacting.

Actually, we could have prevented all of this if it was a COLLAB, and not a collab/contest hybrid. Because they’re like opposites.
A collab is a big picture where everyone supplies a peice of it to make one huge completed project. That actually would’ve helped the YouTube community.
A contest, however, is where it’s winner takes all and you have to fight for the prize. And it says in the article,

Reading all this makes me feel awkward joining the community at the very start of extreme e-drama.

funny. And I liked it.

Sure, Walrusguy is overrated, but you shouldn’t center all the hatred you’ve ever acquired in your life around him.
However, I think it was kind of wrong to be disqualified from the perfect poop thing. Banned for a while, you kind of deserve it.
And yes, perhaps it is unfair that Walrusguy gets all the attention and views, which views are used to win.
Maybe it is the contest, and the rules need a little tweaking, like make it so that the Youchew Community votes on the winner, and not to rely on views. Otherwise, Deepercutt would have won instantly, and if anyone who had more subscribers had participated, they would’ve won.

Hmm… You were shooting down someone’s opinion, it seems to me.
Your opinion isn’t always the right one, and neither is someone elses, but fighting against something you also fight for is just hypocritical.

I come back after a depressing day at the Rehab factily(My little brother had a heart problem), and dinner and see THIS!?! I didn’t know all this drama was happening…but then again, I don’t pay attention to forum politics very much.
But it seems like Conrad Slater was doing his job. I don’t think Mr.DrunkenFox did his job well(”I am not your mother” was what he said when I pm’ed him about Tentor) so it really shouldn’t be mentioned in the article.
I’m on Conrad’s side with this. Everyone says I fail when I stand up for the little people, and hate me because I like anime and is a stupid fantard.

My opinions on this matter:
-I can understand why people consider me overrated, yes. I don’t think I deserve to be treated like Jesus, but if others feel I should, then that’s their opinion and they’re entitled to it. If people think I should be treated like doodoo, that’s also their opinion and they should be entitled to it.
-Therefore, I wasn’t mad at ShadowWario for his opinion towards me or my “fagbase”. Or towards his dislike of this contest. I do think that ShadowWario is being ridiculous about the situation, however. He was already in the top five, and because he was annoyed that I built up a large group of subscribers that he feels is undeserved, he ruined everything for himself. Not that he probably cares. Still, he kept going on after Conrad told him to stop multiple times, so I’ve lost my sympathy for him.
-I do agree that the contest is flawed. However, the flaw is that this is a “Perfect Poop” contest. If this were called a “Get the Most Views” contest from the beginning, I doubt there would be so much commotion.
-Finally, I’m disappointed that the forums went down, but Conrad has the right to do whatever he wants. It’s HIS site, so if he wants to ban someone or close the site, let him do so. I don’t necessarily agree with his actions, but it’s not my website. All one can do is operate under his own principles.
-Youtube Poop has taught me a lot about human nature. I would have never thought that a community of people with the goal of making silly, stupid videos could get so acrimonious about categorization.

Now for some words from me.
Thanks to the Forums being closed, I may never meet Xu, Cynical Sir, and some others ever again for a time being.
I may still be able to contact Stegblob, MeiAIDS, BMATF, Toggle1200, Yaminonalex, MrDrunkenFox, Cortes, and many others again since their You Tube accounts are memorized by heart.
Now with the forum locked out, this means no more posting random images, no more fapping to things in the XXX image thread, no more posting crap from deviantART or SheezyArt, no more chatting to many people on this forum, and no more anything ever to do there.
What you done to us Conrad is a big mistake. Now we may mourn the loss of the forums.

First off, we need the forum to be opened back up. Without the forum, practically no dialogue can take place. There should be a thread created and stickied so that everyone can participate MEANINGFULLY.
Then we need to make an agreement—at least for the time being: Conrad must promise not to ban members for voicing their opinions while those upset with his past decisions agree not to vilify and/or slander him.
We need to set up some rules that the community generally agrees on and set up new standards of accountability. This is about trust. The first thing the comes to mind is putting an end to seemingly arbitrary and inconsistent bans. That, I think, will go a long way toward restoring some sense of trust.
Another things that needs to end is this bombastic language: fascism, Darwinistic elitism, and even AIDS should stop.
It should hopefully take off from there. Of course, I can only speak for myself, so I might totally be alone on this front anyway.

Whichever way, we need major changes, whether it be to Conrad’s actions, the perfect poop thing, the rules, I don’t know. But if we want to get out of this mess, I suggest we all have an opportunity in making that happen.

Here should be the rules:
1st offense: PM warning.
2nd offense: One day slaving, and the moderator who slaves them posts an explanation as to WHY they slaved them, before the slaved comes up with a bunch of bullshit, turning the argument against the slaver.
3rd offense: One day ban, followed by two day slaving.
4th offense: Week-long ban.
5th and final offense: banned indefinitely from the forum.
Yes, they could just start another account, but if they want to go through all that trouble just so that they may be banned AGAIN, that’s fine by me.
Either that, or Conrad could find a way to block their IP.
Do those rules sound fair and just?

Spork, I agree with you. We NEED the forum up to talk about future projects, help and support on videos, and even participating in the little “family” that we’ve all formed. We should have guidelines on how to respect other’s opinions or styles, and also act as role-models for new users.
Possibly, another option would to open the forum up in a probational stage, where we can slowly agree on how the community can be set up, and how to handle punishment of other members.
Trust is important in our group, so we need to allow freedom as long as it is in good taste for everyone else, and that everyone should be responsible for their actions. We should also act as a whole, if any site projects start they should be planned by everyone.
As for alienating some material, that’s up to everyone else. We should encourage use of new material but not chew anyone out for using overused material, but it’s up to the community.
It’s best to get the forum up ASAP, in so that we can create rules that the entire community can agree with (while respecting everyone’s decisions, of course).

I have this strange feeling that everything will be just nuked, and all because of the PP contest. I agree that it should be just a collab so everyone would feel like taking part and just have fun; but if it’s a competition, some people (myself included) just don’t feel like being part of it.
I think there should be an ideas section where Conrad and everyone else could put up ideas they think would improve the site, that way there would be less flame wars.

Geez, it’s just a small little contest… Unfortunately, the most popular person is going to win the contest, and I know it’s unfair to people who make a good effort and don’t get the attention they deserve but… I mean, that’s how the world works. Independent music, for example, doesn’t win music awards because no one heard of them. More popular musicians win the awards.
And further more, personal attacks (I wasn’t around to see what happened so don’t attack me if this seems wrong) are just not cool.
And I honestly saw something like this coming. There really weren’t any forum rules or regulations and a schism was bound to happen. I think everyone needs to come down a few pegs. No one is perfect, non-perfect people will get popular, and all we can do is better ourselves and help eachother out.
Instead of bashing eachother, let’s help, huh? Let’s help eachother make better poop, not attack others. It’s just not kosher.

I have a lot of respect for Conrad. Sure he makes some mistakes, but he’s human. And after all he’s done for this community, he doesn’t deserve all this crap.
At any rate, I hope the forum gets back up soon, it’s one of my favourite communities on the web.

I, personally, do not get this. I don’t the whole story myself, but why do we make a big deal out of it?
Conrad didn’t deserve the crap, but I do think it was a mistake to shut down the forum.
I believe the community could have discussed it, but the drama didn’t didn’t have to be there.
A person will crack after a while, and this is what happens. We all over-reacted to something. I do believe Conrad could have dealt with it another way, but he got tired of crap.
I think anybody that is considered a pooper had the right to enter the perfect poop thing. The people had the right to give an opinion about each other’s poops, but that should only go so far.
I hope the forum will be revived.

Okay, here’s how I understand it. The forum has only one rule - don’t be a dick. While ShadowWario did indeed have an opinion he tried to impose it onto the community, an action that we all know Conrad is highly against.
In other words he wasn’t banned for his opinion, but for being a dick - a bully even. Or something like that anyway.
Honestly I don’t see a problem there. Conrad was trying to prevent general elitist overrated bullshit from sprouting up again.
I know I don’t visit here often, but what I liked about this forum was its general care-free attitude towards fame and glory. After being part of a couple of communities that practically grew on this so-called wonderful prospect, it was a breath of fresh air to find something so normal for once.
And that’s what made it unique.
So let’s just focus on being one big happy family again. Keep the ‘don’t be a dick’ rule intact; try not to take things seriously and personally.
It’s only a bit of fun, isn’t it?

And conrad, if you’re going to have a contest, 1. make it fair for everyone, possibly by hiding ther names or something, and 2. STOP CALLING IT A COLLAB/CONTEST! Unless this is Poop Tennis, you can’t have both without it being corrupt. And how is Poop Tennis a collab/contest without being corrupt? It’s not based on views, ratings, favorites, etc. People vote for which one win. CALL IT A COLLAB OR A CONTEST, NOT BOTH!

Ok, what I’m about to say will either be: Complete Bullshit, A Respectable Opinion, or Profit Speak.
1. Leave Pimps alone. He hasn’t done anything bad for this situation.
2. ShadowWario was just stating his opinion, and I think it was unfair for his banning. For a punishment, if unnecessary, he should at least be slaved for a week. That is all.
3. Conrad, is probably going through lots of stress right now, with his new job and such, he probably hadn’t thought it through yet. However, It was way too much of an overreaction, to close the forum.
4.I know ShadowWario quite a lot, and I must honestly say, this is not his worst. I’ve seen his worst. And this, is not it.
Hopefully, we could all come to a truce, and put all this behind us.
5. I do agree that we should have more rules.

This is getting to be to much of a hassle now…
