FAQ
What is YouChew Poop?
YouChew Poop is a community site made largely for the discussion and promotion of Youtube Poop, though the purpose has become larger (and perhaps more distorted) as time has gone by. As a large community site, that grows literally everyday, we are host to a great range of tastes and preferences. To satisfy that, the News Page of the site has grown to include subjects of media and off-topic discussion as well.
The heartbeat of the community is the forum, where discussions of everything from Poop to writing to video games to media take place. With hundreds of users, many of which come to the forum everyday, we are a massive community, and while it’s easy to get lost in the masses, we’d like to think that everyone is welcome, so long as they don’t disturb the peace.
What is a Youtube Poop?
The current working definition is a video that has been made with appropriated footage and collage editing techniques to for the purpose of either annoying or entertaining viewers in the increasingly indifferent world of Youtube.
There is no hard and fast definition of Youtube Poop, and the argument over what is or isn’t poop has been a source of drama in the community. Recently, a more tolerant view has become the “official” stance of YouChew Poop.
Are they funny?
Often yes, but usually they are weird and annoying, and it’s the poop maker he does the most laughing. In fact, the idea of making videos without purpose or meaning has largely been ignored by a large generation of poopers who instead prefer to re-edit familiar sources such as cd-i cutscenes (Zelda and Hotel Mario) replacing nouns and doing other sentence mixing. These cd-i remix videos are not listed in the directory and often frowned upon by those making poop on a regular basis.
Keep an eye out for text interviews in which various poopers share their insights into the many subtleties of poop making. These interviews are perhaps the best source of information regarding the opinions and methods of poopers. They are also the most serious aspect of this community site.
How do I make a Youtube Poop?
You needn’t have made any videos before, which is why poop making is so appealing. For many Youtube Poops are the first videos they’ve ever made. If you use windows then fire up Windows Movie Maker and have a look at what it can do.
Many poopers use higher-end software such as Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere, for their greater capacity for effects, but those using Windows Movie Maker are often regarded just as highly as those using more sophisticated software.
Where can I get my clips from?
Youtube itself is the best source finding clips but you may want to look elsewhere to find more unusual clips. You can use vixy.net, idesktop.com or mediaconverter.org/ to download clips but you may also need some software to convert the files into an editable format depending on you editing software. Visit the help section of our forum for more advice.
How do I submit a video and have my stuff showcased here?
The directory is not updated by users (the way that Youtube is) but instead is managed by a site curator who carefully selects which videos show poop in it’s best possible light. This is so we can promote Youtube Poop to the world as a diverse collective of talented video artists. To have you videos listed here you will need to either have been invited or you will need to be an active member of the Youtube Poop community.
At the moment, the directory seems to be closed to new submissions and new poopers.
YouChew Poop is no longer directly affiliated with the directory of Youtube Poop.
I made a poop - now what?
Don’t tell me - tell people in the forum - there is place to introduce yourself and a Showroom to tell the poop world out you latest creation.
How can I get more people to watch my poops?
The most successful and prolific poopers (or even general youtube users) are those which get involved with the community. But this doesn’t have to mean a lot of work. Here’s a handy guide.
I still don’t really understand what a good youtube poop is and what a bad one is.
Watch as many as you can - use the random button at youtubepoop.com to discover poops you otherwise nay not have seen before. Decide for yourself what you like and what you don’t like. You’ll realise quite quickly that regardless of your taste or the style (sub genre) of these poops, that the is in fact and art to Poop making and learning how to make these videos may take longer than you thought.
How come people hate it when I use cd-i footage ?
Cd-i cutscene footage is often like spam, it ruins people in-box and wastes their time. At best Youtube Poop is about how you edit whatever footage you have and not about how you edit the same footage that which has been used before. Earlier in the year a handful of poopers made cd-i very popular (a poop meme) but this become like wearing a uniform for a huge amount of new poop makers, a new generation of poopers who were too lazy to download or convert their own footage, instead wanting to step in line and conform to a predetermined aesthetic. If you are worried that you may be one of these, I’d also suggest you visit our wiki to see the real diveristy of choice.
The fact of the matter is that many poopers can still use cd-i footage to great effect, but it has largely become a tired and old source in an environment in which the fresh and creative is highly treasured. Be careful when choosing to use footage that has been frequently used in the past.
Where can I ask a question, such as “how do you make the swearing beeping noise?”
The forum is the place to go. The forum even has a specific Help category - if you’ve got a question then the answer may help someone else too.
